Drena De Niro, My Story.
I created this foundation in loving memory of my son, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez. He brought so much joy and light to everyone who knew him. His presence had a magical way of lifting the energy in any room. Although his life was tragically cut short by fentanyl poisoning in July of 2023, his dreams and the spirit he shared continue to inspire us all. This story is not just about loss; it serves as a powerful reminder of the potential taken too soon by fentanyl.
Losing Leo has truly motivated me to ensure his memory leaves a positive mark on the world. I want to provide support and raise awareness for families who need it most. Through my foundation, I hope we can reduce the stigma surrounding drug use and drug-related deaths, restore dignity to the lives of victims, and offer compassionate support to their families with a growing array of resources. Together, we can ensure that no one has to face this crisis alone. This journey isn’t mine alone; it resonates with countless other families. That’s why this fight is urgent, and that’s why we won’t stop until we help save more lives.
